Eley Guild Hardy recognized - Mississippi Business Journal, Wally Northway, July 27, 2009

BILOXI - Eley Guild Hardy Architects recently  received an Honor Citation in the Architecture/New Construction Category for its design of St. Mark's Episcopal Church in Gulfport from the Mississippi Chapter of the American Institute of Architects (AIA). According to the Mississippi AIA website, the honor citation is "awarded to projects worthy of recognition because of design quality."

A jury comprised of out-of-state design professionals selected the 13,000-square-foot project, which included a 5,000-square-foot sanctuary with connected administration building and a separate parish hall. Jurors praised the discipline and clarity of the design, the restraint of the facade and palette and appropriate use of materials and incorporation of clean lines.

"We designed the project to meet the needs of the congregation, which emphasized the ability of the new facility to respond to future growth and also recall the church's historic roots," principal Stephen A. Stojcich, AIA, said.

The project team consisted of project architect Stephen A. Stojcich, AIA, Heath Perry, AIA, Lee Palermo, AIA, Emily Roberts, ASID, Cristi Wolfe, Allied ASID, and John Stolarski. St. Mark's member Deborah Holstein, ASID, of Design Associates was also on the project team.
